“ My wife and I are frequent visitors and we’ve never had a bad experience. The food and cocktails are always top notch. What keeps us coming back even more than that is the staff. The bar manager, James, is friendly, welcoming, and always willing to discuss mixology. Last night, Zosia was our waitress and she was great. This place knows hospitality. ”
“ We hosted a bridal shower at Marygold's. We were very pleased with the impeccable service, from them helping unload our car to managing the timeline, and treating our guests well. Our communication with the event staff was clear and responsive throughout the whole process. They answered all of our questions and made sure our event went smoothly. The space was perfect for about 60 guests and accommodated all of our needs. We would definitely recommend hosting an event here! ”
“ Wonderful dining experience. The dining room itself is lovely with a beautiful long bar on the far wall. The amazingly delicious and creative cocktails were a real standout. Everything we ate was exceptional. Service was professional and warm. We will definitely be back. ”
“ I have been coming to Marygold’s on Main for various events and meals since they opened and every visit is as exceptional as the last. I’ve been to weddings, dinner parties, tea parties, etc and they have all been phenomenal. Brunch is definitely my favorite; the corn flake French toast is out of this world. The food and craft cocktails are always excellent and they even have a great variety of mocktails to choose from too. I’ve been to one of the high tea events they have thrown and it was fantastic. Such a fun and unique idea to do with friends and family. I could not recommend trying this place enough if you ever find yourself in the Newtown area! ”
“ Very pretty and comfortable setting right on Main Street with a cozy atmosphere. Fast and efficient service, but there were only two of us and we got a croque monsieur and madame. Those two dishes with a side of avocado each, and one side of bacon with a diet Pepsi and an iced tea… came to $58 without tip, proving it’s impossible to get a modest meal at a reasonable price. Also, for a Saturday lunch you should not only have a brunch menu. ”
“ My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Marygold’s. From start to finish, the experience was top notch. Our server, Ethan, was friendly, attentive, and made us feel so well taken care of. James crafted some incredible drinks—The food was excellent especially the wagyu… the atmosphere was cozy yet elevated, and the service truly made it memorable. We’ll definitely be back! ”
“ My wife and I had an incredible experience hosting our wedding reception at Marygold’s this past September. We have been longtime customers of Foundry Kitchen and Tavern and Good Old Days Pizza, naturally we were thrilled to host at Marygold’s! For starters, the reception space is beautiful. Being a historic Newtown landmark, every room is full of charm. There is an enormous bridal suite upstairs that my wife had access to from early morning, all the way until the wedding ended. It provided ample space for getting ready and was a convenient space to touch up as the night progressed. We hosted cocktail hour in the bar room and foyer before welcoming guests into the dining room. We loved having separate spaces throughout the night. Each room has a modern flare while still providing a warm and comfortable ambiance thanks to it’s history as an Inn. The food, as always, was top notch. Months later we are still hearing the praises from our guests! Countless people have said it was the best food they’ve ever enjoyed at a wedding. Each passed hors d'oeuvres was better than the next - and they passed until people were full! No need to worry about standing by the kitchen door to ensure you actually get food here - there was plenty to go around! The most difficult part of our wedding was choosing entrees - the tasting we had weeks prior to the wedding was full of delectable options! The pasta, salad and entree courses we chose were all spot on. We added an ice cream bar for after hours that was a hit as well! Lastly, the service was impeccable! All of the staff was attentive without being overbearing. You never wanted for anything - everybody was professional and kind. A special thank you to Christy, our event director, who made sure that the whole day went off without a hitch. She had been working with us right from our initial inquiry and was there by our side until the end of the wedding. She was there for my wife all day - helping with hair touch ups, escorting her to the church and making sure everting was just right for her throughout the day. Marygold’s is a real treasure to Newtown and we look forward to watching them continue to grow! ”
“ Food quality / price (value) rating 10. The atmosphere is an 1890's mansion built as a private home, and from 1910's onward was an inn and restaurant eventually evolving into it's latest incarnation of classical formal dining and art deco fusion with Wainscoting. There is a wonderfully warm seating area by the entrance, perfect for pre-dinner socializing. It's a fairly casual place, with an upper crust vibe. This was our first visit here. We had the impression that it was an expensive place, but that's not the case. The quality of the food, the presentations, and the service were excellent, and reasonably priced. The wife had a house special cocktail called "Strawberry Blond" , and I had a "Hawley's Other Garden" cocktail, served with a large fruit infused cube-shaped "popsicle" I'll call it. We started by splitting the Baked Stuffed Clams that were some of the best I've ever eaten and we will come back here even if it's kust for those. I had the Marigold's Salad with Steak, covered with shaved parmesan. Wonderful! The wife had the Radicchio and Squash salad, also incredible . We split an order of "Tallow" (rendered from steak fat) fries, which were a refreshing, subtle change of what you think fries are about. They offer a limited, but well chosen number of draught beers. The owner and Chef, Clark, is typically on site, and is a seasoned, experienced restauranteur. Our server, Ryan, was super attentive and made our visit smooth and fulfilling . They're open Tuesday through Sundays for dinner, and they serve lunch on Fridays. Highly recommended! ”
